How long is the tour and when?
The Totumo Volcano tour lasts 4 hours and the price is a little
higher if you decide to eat at the Boquilla or Manzanilo del Mar,
because the tour will be 6 hours.
The start of the private tour is at 8:00 or according to your choice.
We pick you up at your hotel and we will take you back to your hotel.
Details of the Totumo Volcano Tour
The Totumo Volcano is 20 meters (65 feet) high and has a wooden
staircase to climb into its mud crater. A dozen people can take a bath
of hot mud permanently and without the possibility to sink, because the
density of the mud is great.
According to the customs, this mud is therapeutic and curative. A
massage is also offered ($) to those who want it and a cleaning service
($). You can clean yourself by entering the lagoon next door.
Do not forget to bring a heavy swimsuit, towel and non-slip shoes.
Nearby is the pink sea. It is called El Salar de Galerazamba and is
located in the small village of Galerazamba. The sea is actually a salt
mine and its bright pink hue is caused by colorful microbes that like
salt and create pigmented proteins that absorb the energy of the sun.
The bright pink color is visible only two months a year, in February and March, when the water
level is low, resulting in a high concentration of microbes. The rest
of the year, the water is intense blue.
You also have the opportunity to eat at the fishing village of La
Boquilla or Manzanillo del Mar to enjoy a typical fish meal of the
region.
