The independence of Cartagena de Indias

Cartagena was the second biggest city in South America after the city of Caracas in Venezuela and has pronounced to Spain on the 11th of November 1811.With this decision and historic date, Cartagena dared to face the Spanish empire and by consequence, highly important events were launched to free the city from servitude.

This period took around ten years, punctuated of wins and loses, Cartagena took his destine in hand and therefore create bases of freedom and evolution. It’s during this time that Simon Bolivar was proclaimed as liberator and stays one of the most important people of Colombia.
